Counselling is essentially the structured therapeutic conversation between a therapist and a client or couple. There are many styles, including person centred, humanistic, transactional and integrated (combining many styles).
Stuart and Denise are both integrative counsellors and are trained in both person centred and other more analytical styles. Both blend counselling with life coaching and cognitive behavioural therapy where appropriate in order to effectively assist the client in making the changes necessary to improve their lives and environment.
Stuart is a NACHP and NCP (senior accredited) registered counsellor and psychotherapist with professional diplomas and a Level 4 counselling vocational award as well as a MSc Psychology. He also has a BSc and a BA. He is a senior accredited member of the National Council of Psychotherapists. He provides integrative psychotherapy, adapting to the needs of the individual or couple.
Denise is a CCC and NACHP registered counsellor in the last 18 months of a combined social science degree, with a level 4 counselling vocational award and extensive experience and vocational training as a mental health support worker. She also has a BSc Open Degree specializing in health studies and psychology. Denise is a mind-body psychology practitioner, who combines integrative psychological support including counselling, life coaching and meditation, with nutritional therapy, Indian head massage, Reiki, Crystal Healing and Energy Kinesiology.
Both therapists include eastern psychology methods such as mindfulness, meditation, Morita, Naikan and Satori where appropriate.
CBT is a psychological therapy recommended by NICE (national institute for clinical excellence) as an appropriate therapeutic response for a range of clinical conditions including bipolar and unipolar depression. Stuart and Denise combine this recommended method with other counselling methods to meet the needs of the client or couple.
